The PyroMini 2.2 series of non-contact temperature sensors measure surface temperatures on from 100 to 2000C and are ideal for measuring steel rollers and many other metal surfaces.

The sensor detects the infrared radiation emitted by the surface at wavelengths between 2.0 and 2.6 microns. Measuring short wavelengths ensures greater accuracy, and improved tolerance of optical obstructions or errors in emissivity setting, compared to longer-wavelength sensors.

The PyroMinis miniature sensing head measures just 18 mm x 45 mm, making it ideal for mounting in tight spaces. It is manufactured from stainless steel 316 and sealed to IP65.

A wide selection of optics allows the PyroMini to focus on small or large targets at short or long distances.

The special low-noise interconnecting cable is resistant to interference from movement, making the sensing head ideal for mounting on robot arms. It can be supplied in lengths from 1 m to 30 m.

Characteristics
  • Display: digital
  • Configuration: fixed
  • Other characteristics: shortwave
  • Applications: for reflective metal
Please note: The given measured spot size contains 90% of the energy detected by the sensor. We normally recommend the target is at least twice as large as the given measured spot for maximum accuracy. Sensors may be used at longer distances than the above diagrams show. There is no maximum measurement distance in clean air, and accuracy does not change with distance; this is because the PyroMini detects only the wavelengths of infrared radiation that are not absorbed by the atmosphere.

Precise Non-Contact Measurement

The PyroMini sensor employs thermopile infrared technology to measure surface temperatures from -20C to 1000C (model dependent), making it suitable for various industrial processes. The adjustable emissivity feature ensures accurate readings for diverse material types, enhancing its adaptability in real-world applications.

Durable and Flexible Design

Constructed with stainless steel and polycarbonate, the sensor boasts a robust housing and carries IP65 (NEMA 4) environmental protection. Its compact form factor, fixed mounting bracket, and pre-wired cables facilitate straightforward installation and integration into existing systems. The optional backlit display provides local temperature readings in challenging environments.

Versatile Output and Connectivity

Offering both analog (4-20mA) and digital (Modbus RTU) outputs, the PyroMini integrates seamlessly with automation and process control systems. Configurable relay alarm outputs provide added safety and monitoring capability. The device can be supplied by numerous distributors, exporters, and service providers throughout the United Kingdom.

FAQ's of Infrared Temperature Sensor PyroMini:

Q: How do I adjust the emissivity on the PyroMini Infrared Temperature Sensor?

A: Emissivity adjustment on the PyroMini is straightforward and can be set within the range of 0.2 to 1.0. This allows accurate measurement for different surfaces by matching the sensor settings to the material's emissivity, ensuring consistent and reliable readings.

Q: What environments can the PyroMini sensor be used in?

A: The PyroMini is designed for industrial environments requiring rugged performance. It features IP65 and NEMA 4 environmental protection ratings, operates in ambient temperatures from 0C to 60C, and can withstand humidity up to 95% (non-condensing), making it suitable for harsh and demanding locations.

Q: When should I use the optional local backlit display?

A: The optional local backlit display is beneficial in environments where immediate visual confirmation of temperature is required. It improves on-site monitoring and troubleshooting, especially in locations where remote access is difficult or rapid feedback is necessary.

Q: Where can I install the PyroMini sensor, and how is it mounted?

A: The PyroMini is designed for fixed installations using a mounting bracket. This makes it ideal for placement above or near critical process points, such as conveyors, reactors, or equipment surfaces in automated and process control settings.

Q: What process signals and interfaces are available for system integration?

A: The sensor supports both analog output (4-20 mA) and digital communication (Modbus RTU) for seamless integration with most industrial control systems. It also provides configurable relay alarm outputs for enhanced system alerts and monitoring.

Q: How does the PyroMini benefit industrial temperature monitoring?

A: With fast response (240 ms), high accuracy (1C or 1% of reading), and non-contact measurement, the PyroMini offers real-time monitoring that helps maintain process quality, efficiency, and safety while minimizing maintenance requirements.
